Emilie is a Senior Associate Landscape Architect with Phyto Studio, where she leads many of the firm’s residential projects and contributes to a wide range of public garden and institutional work. She creates some of the studio’s most detailed planting plan sets for construction documentation and specializes in coordinating complex plant procurement and deliveries. With a background in geology and landscape architecture, Emilie approaches each site through its many layers—from underlying geological formations and soil profiles to the ecological systems visible across the landscape. Her passion for plants grows from an understanding of their essential role on the planet and a desire to create places that benefit people and the surrounding environment.

Before joining Phyto Studio, Emilie worked as an interpretive park ranger in Rocky Mountain National Park and consulted with nonprofit organizations on fundraising and advocacy strategies. After receiving her Master of Landscape Architecture, she worked with residential clients and later served as a project manager and lead planting designer at Design Collective. Her work there included green roof terraces, stormwater courtyards and plazas, Baltimore City public elementary schools, and the Calvert Marine Museum Site Master Plan.

Emilie is a licensed landscape architect in Maryland. She holds a bachelor’s degree in geology and Spanish from Vanderbilt University and a Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of Maryland, where she was selected by the faculty as the 2013 University Olmsted Scholar. She has spoken throughout the Mid-Atlantic about her work at Phyto Studio and has guest lectured at the University of Maryland, reflecting her commitment to educating the next generation of landscape architects.
